Eyebrow thread aftercare: first 48 hours and what to avoid
By SandraGuz Frizz Specialist | July 7, 2026
Answer first: Keep your brows dry and untouched for the first 24 hours, avoid makeup, sweating, swimming pools, and direct sun for 48 hours, and cleanse gently with a mild, fragrance-free wash. Use a cool compress or fragrance-free aloe for redness. Skip exfoliants for 72 hours to protect the skin and keep that clean shape.

Our Eyebrow Design appointment is 30 minutes and starts at $30, and the whole point is a shape that flatters your features with clean symmetry, not a “one-size” brow. The aftercare is simple, but in Boca Raton it matters even more because heat, humidity, and quick beach or pool plans can irritate freshly threaded skin fast.
Keep reading if you want the exact do’s and don’ts for the first 48 hours, plus what to do the rest of the week so your brows stay crisp and calm.
First 24–48 hours: keep them dry, clean, and hands-off
Right after an eyebrow thread, your skin can look a little pink and feel slightly tender. That’s normal. What usually causes problems is touching, sweating, or putting product on top too soon.
For the first 24 hours
- Keep brows dry. Skip washing the area and avoid steamy showers that soak the brow line.
- No makeup on the brow area. That includes brow pencils, gels, foundation, and concealer right on the skin we just worked on.
- Don’t touch, rub, or pick. Even “just checking” can bring in bacteria or make redness linger.
For the first 48 hours
- Avoid heavy sweating. Outdoor gyms, tennis, and pickleball are big in Boca Raton, but give your skin two days to settle.
- Skip pools, ocean, and hot tubs. Chlorine and saltwater can irritate and slow calm-down time.
- Avoid direct sun on the brow area. If you’re outside, wear a hat. Sun plus fresh skin is a rough combo.
Quick rule we repeat a lot: if it adds heat, friction, or product buildup on the brow line, it can wait 48 hours.
Days 3–7: the week your skin fully chills out
Most people are totally fine after the first day or two, but the first week is where you protect that clean outline. If you tend to get little bumps or sensitivity, this is the part you don’t want to rush.
Keep doing
- Wash your face with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Pat around the brow area. Don’t scrub.
- If you’re back outside in the Boca Raton sun, keep a hat in the car. It’s the easiest protection you can give your skin.
- Keep your pillowcase clean if you’re acne-prone or sensitive. It helps more than people think.
Avoid for 72 hours
- No exfoliants on or near the brows. That includes scrubs, acids, and strong active products near the area.
- No tweezing “just one hair.” It’s how symmetry gets thrown off between visits.
Redness relief + simple products that won’t stir things up
If you leave our chair a little red, don’t panic. Threading moves fast and the skin can react fast too. The goal is to calm it down, not cover it up.
- Cool compress: a clean, cool cloth for a few minutes helps a lot. Don’t press hard.
- Fragrance-free aloe: a thin layer can soothe. Keep it simple and avoid anything heavily scented.
- Skip heavy oils and thick creams right on the brow line for the first day or two. They can trap heat and clog easily.
“Keep them dry and don’t mess with them for the first day.”

When to reach out to our Boca Raton team (and when to wait)
We’ve been doing this a long time, and the pattern is pretty consistent. Mild redness right after eyebrow thread is common, and it usually settles quickly if you keep the area clean and leave it alone.
Reach out to us if you’re seeing increasing irritation, unusual swelling, or anything that feels “off” instead of improving. And if you’re unsure, ask. A quick message now can prevent a longer mess later.
“They explained everything and made it easy to follow.”
